Frequently Asked Questions
At 70, am I too old for implants?
Not at all! 30% of our patients are over 65 years old. Our oldest patient received successful implants at age 84 and happily used them until age 93, when he passed away. There is no upper age limit for implants—you just need to be in good health. During your consultation, we’ll assess your health and let you know if implants are right for you. In fact, fixed dentures are especially important in older age—they help maintain nutrition, health, and quality of life.
Does the surgery hurt?
No. The surgery is performed under local anesthesia—you won’t feel a thing during the procedure. It’s similar to a longer dental procedure. After surgery: You may experience some swelling or discomfort for 3–4 days, which we can effectively manage with pain medication. Most of our patients say it was much less uncomfortable than they had feared. After 5–6 days: any discomfort is minimal, and you can eat soft foods as usual.

Do I have enough bone for the implants? They told me I don't have enough...
This is one of the most common concerns—but in most cases, it can be resolved, often without the need for bone grafting.

Possible solutions:
• Fixed or Specialized Implants and Procedures – such as All-on-4, Trefoil, All-on-5, as well as zygomatic, trans-sinus, or pterygoid implants. In many cases, these can help avoid areas with insufficient bone.
• Short implants – They can be used even when there is less available bone; however, in some cases, it may be necessary to place multiple implants.

A 3D CT Scan We use this technology to accurately assess the condition of the jawbone. During the consultation, we listen to the patient’s needs and then present several treatment options, from which we can work together to select the most appropriate solution.
How long will it take to recover? When can I eat normally again?
Swelling following implantation is usually It goes away within 4–5 days. The pain rarely lasts longer than a day; in fact, about a quarter of our patients experience no pain at all.

How many visits are required? How long does the entire process take?

In most cases, yes—but it depends on the severity of the disease and how well it is controlled.
Diabetes: Well-controlled diabetes generally isn't a problem. Recovery may be a little slower, but the implantation is successful.
High blood pressure / heart disease: If the condition is well-controlled, there are generally no contraindications. If necessary, we consult with a cardiologist or perform the surgery under the supervision of an anesthesiologist.
Osteoporosis: This can often be resolved using a special protocol.
